3 Months On.. But It Feels Like A Lifetime!

No doubt the strangest feeling is looking back on a memory or past experience and trying to figure out how exactly it fit into your life. Did it ever really happen? How can something so unbelievably amazing and life changing have been a part of your life?

Yep- so that’s where my head is currently at. I started scrambling through the 1000’s of unorganised yet excitingly wonderful photos from my travels at the start of this year. And strangely enough exactly 3 months ago I hopped back on a plane in Athens and headed back home to Sydney.

Looking back on all the photos and memories my spirits have been lifted! I’ve only been back for 3 months but it feels like it’s been at least a year. Time flies amidst working and studying. My collection of photos has reminded me of the crazily beautiful world out there and I remembered that I was once that little adventurer climbing the Caldera Cliffs of Santorini, the charismatic alleys of San Sebastian and the mountainous ranges of Cinque Terre.

Of course life slows down for certain moments but I just know there’s so much more to see of the world! Not only have I caught the travel bug big time but I left my heart in so many places in Europe- surely I’ll have to go back and try find them…

Here are some random bits and pieces of where my head is at right now…

Greece Photo Diary (Part 2)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

From Crete to Santorini to Athens, Greece proved to offer so much more then what we expected. I still find it so incredible that places like this still exist. Arden and I only had time to visit three of the islands of Greece, but our trip was based on the idea “less is more”. If you’re planning a trip soon to Greece here are some of my top recommendations:

– Plan ahead as the ferries to and from the Islands often come / arrive late

– Eat Gyros Kebabs everyday for dinner; super cheap and super tasty!

– The donkeys are a lot of fun but a little bit dangerous in that you often ride unattended

– Do not climb the volcano midday; the heat can become unbearable no matter how spectacular the views!

– If you are staying on Santorini, aim for Fira Town (not Fira Centre)- the most amazing places to stay are located here (or at Oia!)

– It’s a small Island and 5 days here would be plenty of time! It takes about an hour to ride from one side of the town to the other on a quad bike

– Drinks in the Fira Centre can be expensive! Try drink and eat at some of the less touristy spots

If you are planning to head anywhere in Europe, feel free to contact me for some travel tips and advice that will save you time and money and ensure you get the best experience!  For now, enjoy some of my photos from our 10 days in Greece! #PicturesSayAThousandWords

Greece Photo Diary: Part 1

A couple weeks on since I have returned from my European adventure and the magic of the experience is still with me. Looking over these photos from the context of my home, I am even more amazed at the unique landscapes and horizons on offer throughout Europe. These are a few of my favourite shots around Greece, in particular from Santorini Island (some feature from Crete). Everything you see is true about Greece: blue and white domes, endless horizons, the most colouful sunsets, donkeys… ahhhh back to dreaming for me!

Home Sweet Home!

After 6 months of enjoying Europe as my new playground I’m back home in Sydney, Australia! 12 countries in 6 months and what a journey it has been. England, Prague, Dublin, Paris, Krakow, Barcelona, Greece, Italy, Brussels, Amsterdam…. just to name a few. 6 months ago I had no idea where this journey would take me, but it was the best decision I could have ever made.

I arrived back home at 1am last night. Home feels strange. My parents have gone to every effort to make my transition as comfortable as possible with presents themed around some of my favourite places: London, Paris and Amsterdam. So sweet of them- I appreciate them so much. But last night still felt strange- I feel a bit distant from home still but I’m sure in good time I’ll settle in.

I’m so excited for what’s to come and I can’t wait to share some things I’ve been working on including a Top 20 Travel Tips guide- things I wish I knew straight from the start! And some photography around the beautiful island of Santorini, Positano and Cinque Terre!

And above all, to continue my adventures whether they be at home for now or wherever life may take me!

One of my cheeky shots from Santorini: the best company whilst travelling!
